Large vintage blue synthetic sapphire single stone ring. This stone, a lab-created, emerald cut, vivid blue sapphire is set in a slender two-tone 9 carat mounting. The gemstone is large, allowing the narrow setting to highlight it's prize. The shoulders are topped in white gold with the band in yellow gold. This ring dates to the mid 20th century, circa 1940s.

A synthetic sapphire is a lab created sapphire (not glass) with the same chemical properties as a natural sapphire. This process, of growing sapphires in a lab, was perfected early 20th century, more than 100 years ago.
