Vintage Shibayama insect ring crafted in silver. This style of ring captures my attention like nothing else. They are exceptional pieces of artwork which has been prised for decades, since they were first made in the late 18th century. Sweet and iridescent colourful little bugs and insects sit on a white shell background. The two bugs are made of iridescent shell - blue and white - with legs carved into the white shell. The three dimensional design gives them such a playful, life like appearance. The white shell cushion in shape and bezel set into a silver frame. Fluted arches are carved into the shoulders, tapering with the band. This particular example dates to the mid 20th century, around 1910s - 1940s, and is likely German in origin.

Marked JOURNK 835. Professionally tested and assessed as silver, 835 parts of 1000 (modern standard is 925 / 1000). We've been unable to find out anything about the maker.

Size: UK - T; US - 9.5; EU - 19,3. This ring is not suitable for resizing.

Measures approx 16.25 mm / 0.64 inches wide on the finger, rises 3.55 mm tall off the finger (this a lower profile ring in keeping with it being signet in style), with the band tapering to 3.7 mm in back.
