Antique 9ct Gold & Rose Cut Diamond Starburst Locket, Edwardian 1900s.

Antique rolled gold photograph locket. Another stunning locket! We're on a roll. The front of it's circular shape is engine turned with undulating lines vertically down the front. To the centre is a bold starburst set with a sapphire blue paste. The design really draws the eye into the bold engraved star. The back side is unadorned. This locket is hinged at the side and opens at the opposite side. In the interior there is space for two photographs and this locket is complete with two frames and two photo coverings. Circa Art Deco era, 1920s - mid 1940s.
The interior is marked Security with a heart and a padlock maker's mark. This closes firmly, and I do mean firmly. I understand why the maker has such a descriptive logo!
In good condition with some wear to the finish in keeping with age and use. This is particularly noticeable on the edge on the back side and is likely the result of rubbing against the chest or clothes over years of wear.
Measures approx 31.5 mm / 1.25 inches tall including the attached ring but excluding the bail, by 27.3 mm / 1.1 inches wide, by 6.8 mm deep.
Weighs 11.3 grams. This is a heavier weight piece.
