Vintage Mourning Ring, 1890s. Three Old Cut Diamonds Set in 18 Carat Yellow Gold with Black Enamel.
Add to WishlistStunning Victorian mourning ring. No one mourned quite like the Victorians who commissioned tokens and mementos to remember their closest loved ones. This ring has been crafted in 18 carat yellow gold as a medium width band which is slightly wider and deeper at the top. Set into this ring are three old cut diamonds, sparkling out from yellow gold diamond shaped settings. The top of this ring has been enamelled in black and where the top meets the back there is a beautiful and ornate flourish design.
The inside of this ring, like a lot of mourning jewellery, lets us know a bit about the owner. The inscription reads, "Jessie J, Mother 27th Jany 1893" and the hallmark dates to the same year, 1893.
Diamonds: 3, old European cut, approx 0.23 carats total weight.
Hallmarked for 18 carat gold, assayed Birmingham, dated 1893.
