Vintage graduated moonstone necklace. Forty-one moonstones are bezel / rubover set in sterling silver. Each setting is linked together with a single jump ring to form a chain of moonstones around the neck. The moonstones are perfectly and subtly graduated in size. This necklace dates to the first half of the 20th century.

Moonstones: 41, oval in shape, cabochon cut. The largest is approx 9 mm by 7.9 mm including the bezel and the smallest is approx 6 mm by 5.5 mm. The moonstones show a silvery blue and have good to fair adularescence .

Marked 925 for sterling silver on the clasp and tests as such throughout. The clasp may be a replacement.

Measures 55.5 cm / 21.85 inches long. The bolt ring clasp may be inserted in the jump rings between the moonstones for a shorter look though because they are graduated in size this may lead to an asymmetric look if worn very short.

Weighs 10.85 grams.

The box is not included. Because moonstone is such a translucent stone it tends to show it's colours better on colours other than white.
