Classic claw set diamond engagement ring. A lovely transitional cut diamond is held in eight small claws in a crown style setting. The diamond is a transition between older cuts and modern round brilliant cuts. The table is larger and the culet is very small though the lower pavilion facets remain shorter, contributing to the chunkier and blockier facet pattern coveted in older cut diamonds. The platinum shank pinches in at the diamond and widens toward the back. Inside the shank is softly rounded for a more comfortable fit. This is an excellent, classic engagement ring which would suit a number of wedding ring styles. Circa 1940s - 1960s diamonds, later shank.

Diamond: transitional to early round brilliant cut. Measures approx 5 mm and calculated as 0.50 carats, G / H colour, I1 clarity within the limits of the mounting. The inclusions are scattered and blend in with the facet pattern making this diamond appear less included than the photos show.

Hallmarked for platinum on the shank which has been added later. The claws are tested as platinum and the finger bezel (rounded part under the diamond from which the claws are attached) tested as 18 carat gold which has been rhodium plated white.
