Wonderful diamond engagement ring featuring early round brilliant and baguette cut diamonds. This platinum set diamond engagement ring is stunning! Four claw prongs hold an early round brilliant cut diamond of approx 0.71 carats. Bar set on either side of the keystone diamond is a straight cut baguette with a further small brilliant cut at the end. The centre diamond was cut around the 1930s - early 1940s and has a low crown, longer lower pavilion facets and a very small open culet. Diamond cutting was changing a lot during this time period, moving away from the higher crowns and larger open culets toward a round brilliant cut, but not quite there yet with this diamond! Circa mid 1930s, likely North American in origin.
Diamonds: centre early round brilliant cut, approx 5.6 mm and calculated in setting as 0.71 carats, J colour, VS1 clarity. 4 accent diamonds, 2 of which are straight baguettes and 2 of which are round brilliant cuts, total approx 0.29 carats together.
Total carat weight, calculated as setting permits, is 1 carat.
