Vintage half carat diamond engagement ring crafted in a classic, traditional style. The early round brilliant cut diamond is just a little bit over 5 mm wide and is secured in eight platinum claws. Sloping cathedral style shoulders pinch in slightly toward the diamond. The slender band is gold and dainty, keeping the focus on the diamond. The diamond, an early round brilliant cut, has a small open culet with a larger table and a frosted girdle typical of the style of cutting when it starts to change from old Europeans to round brilliants. This is a nice, sparkly diamond of a good size and which would be best suited to a slender, wedding band. Circa mid 1930s - 1950s.

Diamond: round brilliant cut, approx 5.1 mm, 0.50 carats, I colour, SI2 clarity. The inclusions are off to one side, partial covered by and between the claws on one shoulder, they are not visible to the unaided eye.

Stamped 18ct PLAT. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat yellow gold with the claws in platinum.
