Vintage amethyst drop earrings. Large oval cut pale purple amethyst are set in gold bezel / rub over mountings. These beautiful gemstones hang from a belcher link chain with a kidney shape ear wire at the top. The amethyst are light purple in colour and are stunning, especially when they catch the sunlight. Gold ear wires fasten with a little hook for security to keep them on the ears. These are articulated and the chain provides a lot of swing and movement. I remember my mentor telling me that a bit of movement and sparkle by the face keeps you looking young. I'm not sure I appreciated that at the time, but I sure do now! Circa late Victorian to Edwardian drops, the ear wires are newer dating to around the second half of the 20th century.

Amethyst: oval cut, approx 12 mm by 10 mm. One has an inclusion which is just visible to the naked eye. We wouldn't consider it visible at a normal viewing distance while being worn - your partner being affectionate with you is not normal viewing distance :)

Not hallmarked, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat yellow gold.

Measures approx 3.8 cm / 1.5 inches drop by 1.1 cm / 0.43 inches wide.

Weigh 2.5 grams together.
