Antique gold fill intaglio seal. This mid 19th century seal is set with engraved white quartz in a cushion shape. The bottom is engraved with a griffin, a mythical creature with the head of an eagle and the body of a lion. Griffins symbolise intelligence and strength. The top of this fob is shaped as a tapered cone with each of the flat sides engraved with a foliate style design. The jump ring at the top has thinned from wear but has plenty of life still in it yet! Circa mid 19th century.

Not marked, gold filled.

Measures approx 1.9 cm / 0.75 inches tall and the bottom is 13 mm by 11.15 mm.
