Antique gold and diamond Etruscan style drop earrings. Circular shaped gold drops swing gently from hooks. In the centre of the circle is a raised platform with a single old cut diamond in an engraved star design. Around the base of the raised platform is a simple rope design. The lower section features lozenge shapes with a textured ridge pattern between which is a small engraved flourish. There is a lot of design in these small earrings. We love the combination of a bit of sparkle with a lot of shiny gold. These earrings are puffed making them light on the ear and easy to wear. Circa mid to late Victorian era.
In very good condition, no issues to note.
Diamonds: 2 total, old mine approx 2.1 mm each to total 0.07 carats together, near colourless, included and eye clean without the aid of magnification.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold throughout. The gold leans toward rose gold but is not as red as modern rose gold.
Measures approx 22.1 mm / 0.87 inches in total length by 12.2 mm / 0.48 inches wide.
Weigh 2.9 grams, approx 1.4 - 1.5 grams each.
