Beautiful antique agate pendant dating to the Victorian era. The agate is a deep reddish brown colour with the gemstone pattern creating swirls of colour. It's secured in a fine bezel and the outside edge of this pendant adorned in a scrolling, swirling engraved pattern. This piece likely started it's life as a brooch which would have been worn at the closure of a high necked blouse. The bail is hinged, as the brooch would have been, allowing this piece to be converted back if desired. Circa mid to late 19th century, we've converted it to a pendant.
Agate: cushion in shape, low domed cabochon cut measuring approx 21 mm by 16 mm.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as a low carat gold, around 8 carat or 333 parts of 1000.
Measures approx 27.7 mm / 1 inch tall not including the bail by 21.4 mm / 0.85 inches wide.
Weighs 3.3 grams.
The pendant can be added to a modern 9 carat gold chain, as shown on model, if required. Please choose your length at checkout.
