Antique 9 carat gold dangle earrings dating to the Victorian era. These pierced earrings are tear drop or pear shaped, a flattering design. Along the edge is a graduated blocked studded design each topped with a little bead. A larger, sloping polished area provides a welcome contrast in white to admire the gleaming gold and at the centre is a faceted shape. These earrings are puffed, hallow to the interior, and well designed, packing a serious amount of detail in a small space. Circa mid to late 19th century, British in origin.
The backs of these earrings are stamped with a Victorian lozenge mark, a type of registration and patient marking. Because of time and wear the code is difficult to make out but we believe them to date to July 1860.
Not hallmarked, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold which is yellow in colour.
