Victorian 9ct Elephant Hair Earrings, Long Ball & Bar 9k Yellow Gold Antique Dangles.Add to Wishlist
Long antique elephant hair earrings dating the Victorian era. These pierced earrings have stylish ear wires which terminate at a puffed sphere. From the sphere is a long bar in which elephant hair is encased and can be seen through elongated oval shaped cut outs. Swinging freely from the bottom is a larger puffed sphere. The contrast of dark brown elephant hair and shiny gold is striking. Circa late 19th century, likely British in origin.
There are a couple of very light dents on one of the larger spheres.
Not stamped, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold. The gold has a slightly rosy hint as Victorian gold tends to. These earrings are closer to modern 9ct yellow gold than modern 9ct rose gold.
Measure approx 6 cm / 2.35 inches long by 8 mm at widest point.
