Antique gold engraved locket dating to the Victorian era. This 19th century locket is fully hand engraved, both front and back. On the front is a pretty overlapping fan pattern with a turquoise paste infinity style design to the centre. The blue green paste, of which one is a replacement, are graduated in size and where they meet is a small faux pearl. The back side has a geometric design which is floral in style, between which is the same repeating overlapping fan pattern that is on the front.
The inside has little lips inbuilt which can be used to secure a photo. There are no plastic inserts. This locket snaps with an audible click and a fingernail can be used in the groove along the edge to open the locket. Circa late 19th century.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 15 carat gold, which is yellow in hue. Various scratch marks can be seen on the inside, these can not be seen from the outside or when a photograph is inserted.
Measures approx 27 mm / 1 inch tall not including bail by 20 mm / 0.78 inches wide.
Weighs 4.9 grams.
Includes the chain: Vintage 1970s 9 carat yellow gold serpentine link chain. This is a fine chain which secures with a small spring bolt clasp. There are complete hallmarks for 1977 on the tag near the end of the chain.
Measures 49.5 cm / 19.5 inches in length by 0.90 mm.
