Antique ruby and diamond stud earrings in a floral design. These small earrings are quite the lookers! At the top are little claw set old cut diamonds, a pierced diamond design leads down to two tulips, one set with a ruby and one with a diamond. At the base of these is a pair of ruby set flowers. These are converted with the addition of a post and backs to create pierced earrings. Circa late Victorian, modern conversion with new scroll backs.
Rubies: 3 per earring, approx 1.5 mm to 2 mm, show some signs of facet wear under magnification.
Diamonds: 2 per earring, approx 1.6 mm and 1.8 mm each, show some abrasions and signs of wear under magnification.
Not hallmarked, professionally tested and assessed as 15 carat gold including the posts. The scroll backs are replacements and are 9 carat gold and marked 375.
Measure approx 19 mm long by 7.2 mm wide
Weigh approx 2.5 grams together, 1.2 to 1.3 grams each.
