Art Deco diamond engagement ring set with an old European diamond between bullet cut side stones. The old European cut is a romantic cut. Hand cut by skilled diamond cutters in a time when candlelight was king. This style of cut has shorter and chunkier facets as compared to the longer and narrower ones of modern cut diamonds. The main diamond is set in four claws and is flanked by by bullet cut sides. The bullet cut is a rarer cut. Like baguette cuts, they are long and narrower, but they come to an arrow like point at one of the ends. The diamonds are mounted in white metal, tested as platinum, in a D shape profile shank.

This ring is very classic in Art Deco design. The central diamond is bright and holds the focus with the bullet cuts channel set into their shank, gleaming nicely as they catch the light and making quite the impression on the finger. The main diamond does have inclusions which are visible to the unaided eye at about 9 inches (that's where my eyes focus, I'm neither near nor far sighted). They are small and sprinkled around the diamond so blend into the facets, not being noticeable unless one is looking for them. Circa 1930s.

Diamonds: centre old European cut, approx 5.58 - 5.47 mm and calculated as 0.71 carats, J / K colour, I1 clarity within the limits of the mounting. Side stones are bullet shape and are approx 0.24 carats together, F / G colour, VS clarity.
Total carat weight 0.95 as calculated in mounting.

Stamped PLAT, professionally tested and assessed as platinum.

Size: UK - J.5; US - 5.25; EU - 50. Sizing up to M.5 / 6.5 / 53 is possible. Resizing available for an additional fee.

Measures approx 5.6 mm wide by 5.8 mm deep, and band is 1.65 mm at back centre.
