Diamond and sapphire three stone engagement ring. There's little which is more classic than an old cut and blue sapphires set in yellow gold and platinum. I love this look! At the centre is a bead set old European cut diamond. The diamond displays a classic old cut diamond pattern with chunky pattern, open culet and super small table. Flanking the diamond are vividly blue sapphires. The three gemstones are all set in a little square shaped boxes which are outlined in milgrain beading. The sapphires and diamond are set in platinum and are low to the finger. The band of this ring is 18 carat yellow gold which tapers near the top. Circa 1910s - 1920s, British in origin.
Diamond: old European cut, approx 3.6 mm and calculated in setting as 0.17 carats, J colour, SI1 clarity.
Sapphires: round cut, vivid blue in colour, approx 3.3 mm each and calculated in setting as 0.35 carats together.
Marked 18ct Pl. This ring is mostly 18 carat yellow gold with the gemstones set into a platinum top. A previous owner had rhodium plated the band to make it appear all white metal. We have removed the rhodium plating to restore it to it's original condition, however a couple of spots of rhodium plating can be seen on the inside of the band when this ring isn't being worn.
