Mid Century 9ct Gold Cocktail Stirrer, Unique Vintage 1950s Drinks Swizzle Stick & Pick.
Add to Wishlist
A most fabulous mid century swizzle stick! This piece is rather unusual. We've seen swizzle sticks, but never one where the other end was a cocktail pick! One side of this piece pushes out allowing seven arms, the centre with a large gold decorative ball. The original purpose of this bar tool would have been eliminate bubbles in champagne (yes, you read that correctly!). The other side pushes out to reveal a ribbon of gold in a twist design, perfect for spearing olives, pickled onions, cherries, or whatever your garnish of choice is.
The pick end is a bit more stiff, probably from less use, than the swizzle end. We love the idea of this simply being a gift for a cocktail lover who has nearly everything! Circa 1950s, British in origin.
Fully hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in London, 1957.
Measures approx 8.7 cm / 3.4 inches long when closed, 12.8 cm / 5 inches long when swizzle is open, and 10.5 cm / 4.1 inches long when pick is open.
Weighs 6.3 grams.
