Another handy piece! Antique 9 carat gold safety pin. A great practical piece of jewellery! This stock pin is crafted from 1.75 mm wire. The pointed end tucks in nicely and this piece has large open ends which allow clasps to be attached. It can then be used as a chain extender or charm holder. I've been using a pin recently to secure my kimono. It can also be used as a brooch, shawl pin, tie clip, collar pin, the list goes on! Circa late 19th century.

In very good condition, nice tight clasp. When opened it does properly spring open and can be folded nearly all the way back.

Measures approx 57.6 mm / 2.25 inches long by 7.9 mm / 0.31 inches tall, made from 1.75 mm rounded wire.

Stamped 9c on a plaque where the pointed end latches into. Professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold throughout. The gold is between yellow and rose, much closer to modern yellow gold with just a hint of peachyness to it.

Weighs 4.2 grams. This is a heavier, larger sized pin.
