Antique 9 carat gold dog clip dating to the late Victorian to Edwardian era. How very useful! This little sprung joy of a clip would have been an end to a chain, such as watch chain or long guard, and used to fobs, pendant or watch. At one end is an unsoldered jump ring to allow it to be attached to a chain end or that can be used as a bail so that it slides along a chain. This dog clip does not swivel. Circa 1880 - 1920s, British in origin, marker's mark of E.W.&S for E Whitehouse and Son.
This dog clip is in exceptionally good condition for it's age with a tight spring and very crisp stamps for gold and the maker.
Stamped 9c on exterior as seen in the photo, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold. The gold is rosy in tint.
Measures approx 29.6 mm / 1.17 inches tall including the end jump ring by 8.4 mm / 0.33 inches wide.
Weighs 2.7 grams. This is a nice, weighty dog clip.
