Garnet and diamond ring dating to the mid 20th century. A wonderful deep red garnet is framed by 12 bead set diamonds. The garnet is a stunning slightly purplish red colour and is held in place with wider claws on each of it's four corners. Each of the single cut diamonds are held in small claws giving a very slightly scalloped edge to the exterior. The top of the setting is white gold with a pinched gold band meeting the top and widening to a D shape profile at the back. Garnet is the birthstone for January. Circa 1960 - 70s, British in origin.
Garnet: rectangle shape, step cut, approx 8 mm by 6.3 mm and calculated as 2 carats within the limits of the mounting.
Diamonds: 12, single cuts of about 1.5 mm each to total 0.18 carats together.
Partial hallmarks of a maker's mark, crown for gold, and 18. The rest of the mark has been lost to previous resizing. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat yellow and white gold.
Size: UK - K.5; US - 5.5; EU - 16. This ring can be sized between J / 5 / 15,6 and Q.5 / 8.5 / 18,5. Sizing is available for an additional fee.
Measures approx 11.85 mm by 9.8 mm on top and 5.7 mm deep at garnet. 1.6 mm band.
