Old mine cut diamond pendant. I adore this antique piece. Just simply adore it. It originally started it's life as a stick pin. We've cut off the pin and bent the top to create a small bail. This piece is deeply and incredibly hand engraved with a five pointed star, or five petalled flower, to the front. Set in the centre is the brightest, most wonderful, wonkiest old mine cut diamond. The diamond has a wonderful steep crown and a large open culet. This entire design is within a heavy gold shield shape design. It's hallow to the inside while maintaining a wonderful weight.
On the back is a personal inscription, "From R.S.W. To T.A.K. April 16, 1878".
Diamond: old mine cut, approx 3.4 mm, and calculated in setting as 0.18 carats, G colour, SI1 clarity.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold with a higher gilt finish.
Measures approx 2.27 cm / 0.90 inches by 1.55 cm / 0.60 inches.
Weighs 4.8 grams. This is a substantial, weighty piece.
This pendant can be supplied on a modern 9 carat gold chain as shown in photo, it's one of our heavier weight chains at 1.6 mm wide, approx 1.7 grams. Please choose the length you require at checkout.
