SOLD. Sorry, this item has sold.

Edwardian wide engraved buckle ring crafted in 18 carat yellow gold. This heavy buttery gold band is in excellent condition and looks to have hardly been worn. To the front is a large buckle design engraved with an ivy and flower design. During the 19th century ivy was meant to symbolise an attachment between the giver and receiver, clinging like ivy does. This ring tapers gently to the back centre and the engraving is a continuous pattern all the way around. Circa 1900s, British in origin.

Full hallmarked for 18 carat gold, Birmingham assay office, date letter for 1907.

Size: UK - O 1/2; US - 7 1/2; EU - 17 3/4. Sizes taken from the leading edge, wide rings usually require a larger ring size than narrower rings - fits my size N / O finger well. Sizing would disrupt the pattern and is not recommended.

Measures approx 14.25 mm wide at buckle tapering to 8.75 mm at back centre, 3.6 mm deep at buckle and 1.15 mm deep at back centre.

Weighs 10.8 grams. This is a substantial ring.
