Vintage amethyst drop earrings. These dangle earrings are incredibly stylish! The cushion cut amethyst are a bright, royal purple in colour. The cushion cut gemstones are secured with wide double tab prongs to the north, south, east and west. The sides are solid and flat, shiny and gleaming in the light, keeping perfectly with their bold mid century look. These earrings secure with hooks from which the amethyst drops swing. Circa mid 20th century, 1940s - 1960s.

Amethyst: 2 total, measures approx 10 mm by 8 mm by 6.2 mm deep, calculated in mounting as 3.2 carats each. One of the amethysts displays some colour zoning, giving it a slightly lighter tone at the top when viewed from the back at an angle, as shown in photos. The model is wearing this earring in the photo.

Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 14 carat yellow gold.

Measures approx 23 mm / 0.90 inches long by 9.7 mm wide.

Weighs 3.6 grams total, about 1.8 grams each.
