Lovely 9 carat gold curb link chain necklace. This antique gold chain has a great tactile link. The links are wide at 6.3 mm and solid so it feels lovely and heavy on. The links are slightly oval in shape in a classic curb style and are uniform in shape and size. Matching dog clips, one to each end, completes this chain. The dog clips can be worn to the front, displaying a pendant, or to the back for a more simple look. At 15.5 inches this is also a great length to wear doubled as a bracelet. Circa early 20th century, British in origin.
In very good condition, both dog clips are tight and fasten well. Shown with a safety pin, listed separately, as a chain extender in one of the photos.
Hallmarked for 9 carat gold, Chester assay office, 1909. Stamped 9c on the dog clips, t-bar and every curb link with maker's mark of EW&S for E Whitehouse & Son, a jeweller during the late 19th to 20th centuries. Professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold throughout, which is closer to rose gold than yellow gold.
Measures approx 39.5 cm / 15.5 inches in wearable length by 6.3 mm wide.
