Beautiful Art Deco sapphire and diamond engagement ring. A bright blue square shape, step cut sapphire is set with it's points to the north, south, east and west. At each of the flat sides is a pave set roughly cut diamond. Milgrain beading adores the top of this ring, lining the sapphire and accenting the edge. Rather unusually the top of this ring is rectangular in shape with clipped corners and gently curved sides. A very slender shank pinches in at the gem set, platinum top, and widens toward the back centre. Circa 1920s, British in origin.

Sapphire: royal blue, square step cut in shape. Approx 3.3 mm by 3.3mm.

Diamonds: 4, roughly cut, approx 1.2 mm each.

Stamped 18ct PLAT, this ring is tested and assessed as mostly 18 carat yellow gold with the gemstones set into a platinum top.
