An elegant Art Deco diamond engagement ring in platinum. Crafted in platinum this ring holds a transitional cut diamond in the centre, embedded in a wide sloping square frame. On either side of the keystone diamond are three smaller single cut diamonds. Each of the smaller accent diamonds are pave set in a tapered, stepped design with two diamonds, stepping to one, then an engraved design. The shank is adorned with a ridged detail which goes halfway around, disappearing at the back of the finger.
From the top this ring has a strong geometric 1930s design while a softer pierced filigree design can be seen from the side. This is a great example of the flowing, more ornate designs of the 1910s and early 1920s giving way to the bold, modern designs of the 1930s. This ring dates to around the 1930s.
Diamonds: 7 total, 1 transitional cut and 6 accent single / eight cut diamonds. Centre is approx 0.08 carats, 2.7 mm, I / J colour, SI1 clarity. Accent diamonds are approx 0.09 carats together. The total carat of this ring, calculated as set, is 0.17 carats.
