Art Deco diamond and sapphire pendant. A great sparkly charm set with a large glittering old cut diamond and a marquise cut sapphire for a beautiful pop of blue! Converted from a stick pin, this piece has been updated to a more wearable pendant. At the top is a vivid blue lab created sapphire, much coveted at the time as the science behind creating them was fairly new and allowed for the matches of small coloured gemstones we typically see in Art Deco pieces. Below that is a claw set transitional cut sapphire, a cut between old European and modern round brilliant. It's probably my favourite cut as they are super sparkly and also cut a bit on the shallow side which means they tend to face up larger than their weight would indicate. On either side of the diamond, following the lines of the fan shaped setting, is a delicate engraved flourish. Circa Art Deco, about 1915 - 1930.

In excellent condition.

Diamond: transitional cut measuring approx 4.4 mm. 0.29 carats, J / K colour, VS clarity as calculated within the limits of the mounting.

Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold, which is white in colour.
