Superb French made diamond pendant from the Art Deco period. I have something of a fascination with French Art Deco pieces. The French just did it so well! Their Art Deco pieces manage to be both bold with no mistaking when they were made, and delicate, with outstanding detailing and gorgeous diamonds. This pendant has been crafted in 18 carat white and yellow gold. The design is a classic tapered drop shape. The chevron shaped and styled sides are white gold and the diamond shape top and fan shaped bottom are yellow gold. Set in the middle are two round brilliant cut diamonds. The diamonds are set into a bezel style collet and secured with tiny little prongs.
A further, slightly smaller diamond is pave set into the fan shape near the bottom of this pendant. The diamond itself is set into a triangle shape and either side is lined with milgrain beading. A further criss cross style engraving provides a matte like texture which contrasts with the bright, polished finished of the rest of this pendant. Circa 1930s, likely French in origin.
Diamonds: 3, round brilliants. One at 3.3 mm, approx 0.12 carats; one at 3.5 mm, approx 0.14 carats; and the bottom at 2.4 mm, approx 0.06 carats. Total approx 0.32 carats, all G - I colour, SI clarity.
Not hallmarked. Faded and worn marks on the bail, illegible. Tested as 18 carat white and yellow gold.
The chain is a later addition and is marked 9K for 9 carat gold and tested as such. Chain measures approx 45.5 cm / 18 inches.
