These are the most amazing pair of gold earrings! Ear wires terminate at a sphere of gold with a double bar shape below that. What I really like these earrings is that bar then passes through a tilted hoop which is secured by an open hoop at the base. The level of skill to make these wonderfully matched earrings is just beyond! The level of detail, and the need to carefully piece all these parts together, makes them really something to behold. Behind the tilted hoop the bar ends and a swinging sphere moves freely in the middle of the largest bottom hoop. The sides of the bottom hoop are etched with a delicate star pattern.
I could just go on about these! So I will :) The angle at the top of the bars, the spheres perfectly placed to be decorative but also provide the bars stability, and the perfect flat sides and sharp corners; it's all just such incredibly detailed work requiring a high level of skill. Circa late 19th century, around 1890s, British in origin.
In excellent condition showing only the most minor of wear.
Not marked, professionally tested and assess as 9 carat gold which is yellow in colour.
Measure approx 57.8 mm / 2.3 inches in total length by 23.3 mm / 0.92 inches wide.
Weighs 4.9 grams together, approx 2.4 - 2.5 grams each.
