Gorgeous antique synthetic ruby and natural diamond ring. What a beauty this ring is! Three incredibly red lab created rubies are set together in a bezel setting. The centre is a cushion cut in shape and the ends are triangular with the blending together. Twenty-two glittery diamonds are set in the platinum filigree mounting. And it is a total beauty! The pierced filigree runs between the diamond settings and around the rubies with milgrain beaded edge accenting the negative space. Circa 1910s - 1930.

Rubies were first made in a lab in the late 19th century. This allowed for jewellers of Edwardian and Art Deco eras to create striking pieces with matched gemstones, something not previously possible. Synthetic gemstones were massively popular during this time period due to their ability to be used for this purpose. Ruby is the birthstone for July and also the gemstone for 40th anniversary.

In very good condition. The rubies show some facet wear in keeping with their age and use.
