Antique opal pendant in the most charming design! This oval shaped, cabochon cut opal is set compass style with double claw prongs to the north, south, west and east. The claws are delicate, crafted to appear barely there while holding their prize securely. And what a prize it is, the opal is outstanding! White in body colour with vivid flashes of colour edge to edge. The opal is set of the bottom of an articulated double bar with the bail in the same design, giving this piece a nice, pleasing style and presence. Circa early 20th century, British in origin.
