Old mine cut diamond engagement ring set in platinum. This dainty platinum setting holds aloft a sparkling 0.69 carat old mine cut diamond. The diamond is set in a simple six claw setting with a leaf shape design on each side which holds a small eight cut diamond. These shapes are outlined in a line of milgrain beading and lead to a narrow D shape profile band. The simple design lets the centre diamond take centre stage. Circa 1890s - 1900.
The diamond is an old mine cut, a predecessor to the modern round brilliant. These diamonds were cut by hand without the tools currently available to modern diamond cutters. The result is a slightly chunkier faceting pattern, off round shape, with a high crown and small table. We love these cuts for their history and romance and this ring in particular for it's stunning setting which leaves the centre diamond to shine!
Diamond: 3 total, centre 0.69 carat old mine cut and 2 accent diamonds totalling 0.01 carats together for a total carat weight of 0.70 for this ring.
This diamond has been graded by E.D.R. and the information taken from their report, 0.69 old cut measuring 5.18 mm - 5.37 mm by 3.9 mm deep, G colour, SI1 clarity. A previous owner had this ring assessed in 2012 and both the diamond report and assessment will be included with the sale of this ring.
