Antique French silver long guard chain. Oblong links are ridged around the edges with a foliate design to the centre. Connecting each of these longer links is a small rounded link, also engraved with the ridged design. I love small details like that! Each little cut into the metal, such as ridges and engraving, reflects light differently and draws in the attention of the viewer. One end of this chain terminates at a dog clip and the other as a simple jump ring. This chain fully opens, probably due to a previous alteration as this would be uncommon, which allows for it to easily be wrapped around the neck two to four times for a layered look. Circa early 20th century, Edwardian era.

Small mark on the ring of the spring bolt clasp. Professionally tested and assessed as silver, 800 parts of 1000.
