Stunning pair of antique Victorian period French diamond earrings. At the base of the ear wire is a claw set small rose cut diamond. Below that, set in an intricate buttercup style mounting is a larger round cut diamond. The buttercups have a larger base than top with an engraved star design mount. The scalloped edges of the base of this mount can be seen from the front. This is to reflect light back to the viewer and make the diamonds appear larger. That's never a bad thing!

These earrings are made in dormeuse style, or sleeper style. The sides of the diamond settings are pierced into a beautiful, open style. A yellow gold base lines the bottom edge of the larger diamond and has the hinge mechanism attached. These earrings fasten with a little click and the edges of the fastener are curved so that your fingernail can be used to unfasten them.

Diamonds: 2 rose cut of approx 1.5 mm each and 2 round cut of approx 2.2 mm each. Estimated in setting as 0.10 carats total.

Stamped with the French eagle's head, professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold.

Measure approx 1.4 cm / 0.55 inches long by 0.75 cm / 0.30 inches wide.

Weigh 3.05 grams together.
