What a wonderful antique five stone sapphire ring! Royal blue and white sapphires are bezel set in a graduated design across the top of this ring. The blue sapphires are a stunning royal blue colour and pop against the sparkling white sapphires. The gemstones are set in a delicate platinum edge, lined with milgrain beading providing a bit of extra glitter as it catches the light. A slender gold band tapers as it reaches the gemstone set top. Circa early 20th century, British in origin.
In very good condition with some light wear to the facet edges of the sapphires which is noticeable under magnification.
Sapphires: 3 blue measuring approx 3.2 mm, 1.8 mm and 1.8 mm. 2 white measuring approx 2.5 mm each.
Stamped 9ct PLAT. Professionally tested and assessed as mostly 9 carat gold, which is yellow in colour, with the very top edges around the bezels in platinum. These is also a maker's mark of HG&S for Henry Griffith & Sons, a Birmingham based jeweller from the late 19th century to early 20th century.
