Antique gold filled long guard chain. I love a filigree link chain! Each of the large marquise shaped links is bold and wonderfully crafted. Winding, scrolling metal work fills the space and is dotted with a beaded access. Each of these larger filigree links are connected together with a series of smaller oval shape trace links. The spacing is even and the gap between the filigree links allows them to stand out and sit flat on the chest and neck. As is typical of the period, the terminating ends are attached to a single jump ring so that this chain doesn't open. It's designed to be looped around the neck 2 or 3 times in longer layers and a pendant or locket added to the dangling spring bolt clasp. Circa late 19th to very early 20th century.

Measures approx 152 cm / 60 inches long and 5.2 mm wide at fancy links and 1.9 mm wide at the smaller links in-between.
