Antique 18 carat gold wedding ring by Birks. What a find! This slender ladies wedding band is engraved on the sides in an overlapping triangle style design which is very of it's time, the Art Deco era. The style of the band is very slightly knife edge with the base being just a touch wider than the top, something which often allows a gem set ring to sit closer to a band. Circa 1920s, North American in origin.
In good condition. The top of the ring once had a pattern though this has worn over time, we don't know how worn because we don't know what the original pattern was. The pattern on the sides is in very good condition. The inside of the band contains a personal inscription which we think reads, "P.B.B. - M.H.O. 17/7/22".
Stamped BIRKS 18K. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold which is yellow in colour. BIRKS is a famous Canadian maker in business from the late 1870s and still going strong today!
Size: UK - L.5; US - 6 loose; 16,6. We can size this ring down to K.5 / 5.5 / 16,1 without disruption to the pattern.
Measures approx 1.85 mm wide by 1.65 mm deep.
