Antique amethyst and rock crystal drop earrings. What a perfect pairing these gemstones make! Clear and pale purple quartz have been set together in graduated drops and are each held with four sets of double claws prongs. The faceted crystal is stationary, just resting off the earlobe, while the amethyst swings as the wearer moves. Circa early 20th century.

The gemstones appear original to their double claw mountings. The ear wires have been added at a later, unknown to us, date.

Amethyst: 2 total, oval cut, approx 14.3 mm by 10.5 mm, 5.5 carats each. The amethyst have natural inclusions and some age related wear to their girdle edges.

Rock crystal: 2 total, oval cut, approx 7.7 mm by 5.9 mm. The rock crystal have natural inclusions and some age related wear to their girdle edges.

Not marked. The gemstone mounting test as 10 carat gold and the ear wires as 18 carat gold.

Measure approx 3.2 cm / 1.25 inches long by 1.2 cm / 0.47 inches wide.

Weigh 5.1 grams, approx 2.5 - 2.6 grams each.
