Antique 9ct gold safety pin. This simple 9k gold safety pin is made from heavy gauge 1.2 mm rounded wire. It's an older style which is sprung at one end to allow it to catch in it's clasp and secure the sharp end. Antique safety pins have a variety of modern uses from being a simple brooch to securing a shawl or scarf (perfect for those winter months!) or on the end of a chain to lengthen it and give a place to secure charms. Circa early 20th century, British in origin.

Stamped 9ct,professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold. It's been gilted with a higher carat, brighter colour gold. There is a maker's mark of JA&S, probably for J Aitkin & Son, an early 20th century maker.

Measures approx 2.5 cm / 1 inches long by 0.56 cm / 0.22 inches tall.

Weighs 1.2 grams.
