Antique 9ct gold safety pin by Murrel Bennett & Co. This simple 9k gold safety pin is made from a heavy gauge 1.25 mm rounded wire. Antique safety pins have a variety of modern uses from being a simple brooch to securing a shawl or scarf (perfect for those winter months!), makes a fantastic collar pin, or on the end of a chain to lengthen it and give a place to secure charms. Circa early 20th century, British in origin.

Marked 9C M.B&Co. Professionally tested as 9 carat gold which is rosy in colour. The maker's mark is for Murrle, Bennett & Co, in business from 1886 - 1916 when the company was purchased and started trading under another name.

Measures approx 44.7 mm / 1.75 inches long by 8.7 mm / 0.34 inches tall.
