Fabulous circa early 1900s enamel clover locket. This locket is rectangular in shape and in each corner is a small green enamel three leaf clover. This lucky little shamrock is beautiful. The vivid green of the shamrocks co-ordinates perfectly with the bright yellow 18 carat gold of the locket. Dates to the late Victorian to Edwardian era, 1890s - 1910s, British in origin.
Marked 18 on the front and tested as 18 carat yellow gold. The frames are a base metal which is topped in gold on the facing side so that they blend into the locket. The frames appear original to the locket. One side has a glass photo protector and the other side has a replacement plastic photo protector which shows wear.
Measures 2.47 cm / 0.97 inches long not including bail, and 1.86 cm / 0.66 inches wide.
Pendant weighs 9.7 grams, 8.27 grams without the frames and plastic protectors.
Shown on a 50.5 cm / 20 inch chain. The chain is modern and is a 1.4 mm curb style 9 carat yellow gold chain. Chain weighs 2.35 grams and is marked on the clasp for 9 carat gold. Locket can be sold without chain if required.
