Large vintage single cut ring set in 18 carat yellow gold. The cabochon cut brilliantly purple amethyst is oval in shape and set in a very sleek, narrow bezel. The amethyst has a tall domed top and is held in a solid sided, slightly tapered shiny gold bezel. A split shank attaches at the base of the bezel with the split meeting to form a heavy D shaped band at the back. Amethyst is the birthstone for February. Hallmarked for 1984 giving us an exact date, British in origin.

Amethyst: oval in shape, cabochon cut to the top, faceted bottom. This mixed cut makes it brighter though weight cannot be accurately be calculated within the limits of the mounting. Measures approx 15.5 mm by 9.6 mm.

Hallmarked for 18 carat gold, assayed in London 1984.
