1930s Platinum & Diamond Engagement Ring. Transitional Cut Diamond Set in Fishtail Style Triple Claw Prongs with Knife Edge Setting.
Add to WishlistA classic late Art Deco diamond engagement ring set in platinum. A centre transitional cut diamond is set in fishtail style triple claw prongs giving it a square shape. The keystone diamond is between a European cut diamond and round brilliant and has some features of both as the cutting style changed. It has a larger table closer to that of a round brilliant but maintains the higher crown and small open culet of the earlier cutting styles. On either side of the centre diamond are two smaller single cut diamonds. The accent diamonds are set in simple U shaped beads. A knife edge or pointed shank forms the band and curves outward very slightly where it meets the side diamonds giving this ring classic 1930s style and grace. Circa 1930s.
Diamonds: 5 total. Centre transitional cut diamond, measures 4.25 mm and is estimated in setting as 0.30 carats, J / K colour, VS1 clarity. 4 accent diamonds total approx 0.12 carats. Total carat weight calculated as setting permits is 0.42 carats.
