Pretty amethyst solitaire in the most fantastic shape! This pastel purple gemstone is cut into an elongated cushion cut, taking up most the shape knuckle to knuckle with gently curved corners giving it the perfect pillow shape. Double claw prongs hold the amethyst gemstone at the sides, top and bottom. The narrow band and the hidden collet make it appear as though the amethyst is floating on the finger, a superb look. Circa 1920s, British in origin.
This ring is in incredible condition with clear hallmarks and crisp facet edges on the gemstone.
Amethyst: elongated cushion cut in a bright pastel purple. Measures approx 16.3 mm by 11 mm and is calculated as 5.55 carats within the limits of the mounting. The amethyst is in stunning condition with no visible facet wear. It has a little birthmark (inclusion) which looks like the pattern of series of small waves makes in the sand on a beach.
Hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in Chester 1928. This makes this ring 98 years old.
Size: UK - Q; US - 8.25; EU - 18,2. This ring can be sized between M.5 / 6.5 / 16,8 and R.5 / 9 / 19. Sizing available for an additional fee.
Measures approx 17.45 mm by 12 mm on top by 6.6 mm deep, 1.85 mm band at back centre.
