Vintage reconstituted turquoise and yellow gold hoop earrings. These creole style puffed hoops are small and beautifully crafted. The reconstituted turquoise studded drops are graduated in shape with deep engraved ridges creating a fluted design. The turquoise are inset at both sides so these can be worn on either ear and the gemstone will still face outward. The hinged ear wires fasten into small holes at the end of the hoop. Circa turn of the 20th century.

Reconstituted turquoise is made by taking small turquoise flakes which are ground up into a powder and combined with an adhesive. It can them be formed into shapes, such as the small cabochons adorning these hoops.

Stamped .750 on the ear wires. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold.

Measure approx 17.4 mm / 0.69 inches from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the hoop. 12.65 mm / 0.50 inches across widest point.
