This solitaire diamond engagement ring is set with an old mine cut diamond dating to the 1870 - 1900. The diamond has a great shape and is slightly off-round as old mine cut diamonds are known to be. This one is slight oval in shape with a lovely high crown, small table, and large open culet.

This diamond is set in a white gold flower shaped setting. The flower has six petals which fold over. The light catches in the folds of the petals and reflects making the diamond appear larger than it is. The shoulders slope up in a cathedral style setting. This setting is more modern, dating to approx 1970s, and is very fluid in style. This ring is a wonderful demonstration of marriage between an old stone, possibly a family diamond, and a setting which has clearly been custom made for it with a lot of thought about how to best highlight the diamond.

Diamond: old mine cut, calculated in setting as 0.45 carats, 4.35 - 4.7 mm x 3.45 mm deep. J / K colour, VS2 clarity.

Hallmarked and tested as 18 carat white gold.
