Vintage Diamond Trilogy Engagement Ring with Old European & Old Mine Cut Diamonds in Filigree White Gold Setting.
Add to WishlistThis is a classic Art Deco diamond trilogy engagement ring. Three old cut diamonds are bead set in hexagonal bezel style settings. The diamonds are slightly graduated in size with the centre old European cut diamond being the largest. The centre diamond is a slightly later cut diamond. It has classic snowflake style faceting with a larger table, lower crown, and smaller culet when compared to with the side diamonds.
The side diamonds are old mine cut diamonds. Cut in the very late 1800s to early 1900s old mine cut diamonds tend to have a slightly less circular outline. These old mine cut diamonds have incredibly tiny tables (that's the top of the diamond!) and very high, steep crowns (that's the slope to the table that you see from the side!) and larger culets. The differences in the diamond cuts are noticeable in bright lights under very close inspection. I think it's wonderful because while the cuts are different, the ring is very symmetrical with the side diamonds matching wonderfully! Circa 1920s.
