Vintage Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring. Illusion Set 1940s Engagement Ring with Engraved Shoulders in 18 Carat Gold.
Add to WishlistVintage diamond solitaire engagement ring set in engraved setting. This is a pretty solitaire style engagement ring dating to the mid-20th century. A single round brilliant cut diamond is set in a protective illusion style setting. The setting serves to both protect the diamond and make it look larger with the cut design around the edges of the setting reflecting light. The white gold shoulders are engraved in a tulip flower design. The centre overlapping leaves of the floral design are smooth and shiny and the edges are lined in miligrain beading. The yellow gold band is nice and thick, and is D shaped in profile. Circa 1940s - 1960s, British in origin.
Diamond: round brilliant cut, approx 0.15 carats, 3.3 mm, L colour, SI1 clarity, graded as setting permits.
Hallmarked and tested as 18 carat gold. This ring contains more modern hallmarks, but due to style and cut is thought to date to the 1940s - 1950s. It is sometimes a legal requirement that older, vintage items are rehallmarked with modern hallmarks if they are missing hallmarks and we believe that's what happened with this ring.
